The AMVCA (African Magic Viewers Choice Awards) has come and gone but it left us with something to munch and crunch until it comes again. If not for everyone, at least for those who are fashionistas.
Like every AMVCA past event, the 2023 AMVCA features stars from every part of Africa, predominantly Nigerian and Ghanaian movie makers, actors and actresses, social media content creators and performance appearances by Nigerian music’s biggest stars, Tiwa Savage, Spyro and Burna Boy.
One of the highlights of the event we always look forward to is the Best Dress Award category as it usually propels attendees to look their bespoke best. And as usual, the winner is not always the people’s choice. I mean, what makes Beauty Tukura’s dress better rated than Tacha’s $20,000 Blue Dress? What makes her dress better than Osas Igadaro’s shining peacock tail cream colour gown or Bimbo Ademoye’s beautifully crafted greenish super curvy gown or Jackie Appiah’s brilliantly sewed designer semi-formal gown or Liquorose’s flowery Suit & Pant? Was Beauty Tukura given that award for clout? Ah! There I said it.
Likewise, Enioluwa Adeoluwa’s dripping suits do look fantabulous. However, I would be doing you a disservice if I told you it is better Yemi Craig’s Yoruba Demon Wine Agbada Drip with a touch of chieftain accessories. Speaking of suits, BBN Emmanuel Udoh gives us a flower man Cross River stylish suit attire. It looks good on him but honestly, that style is not for everyone. Elozonam looks so blazing and hot with his hairstyle. Hey! Elo, can i get your hairstylist’s number?
Simplicity is the best, they say. And that’s what Funke Akindele chose to portray with her skimpy Cinderella flowery gown which made her look so astonishing.
